Our Vision for the Future
Racially Equitable Communities where Every Child Succeeds
As consistently recognized by
Why Now
Communities across our country, and particularly in the DC region, are increasingly challenged by ever-widening educational, health, and wealth gaps. With additional campaign resources, Fair Chance will reach and strengthen even more community-based nonprofits to combat the long-term effects of poverty, promote equity, and achieve life-changing impact so every child has a fair chance to succeed.
Through your support, we will also catalyze additional resources through partnerships with philanthropy and government to create a more sustainable eco-system of services and supports in even more communities across DC and beyond.
Where We Are
Since the campaign was announced at the end of 2022, we have raised a total of $1.15M towards our 2027 $4.2M goal. With these funds, we have already
- Expanded our programs to become a regional leader in sustainability for grassroots and Black led nonprofits in Prince George’s County;
- Provided on-demand consulting services to meet the needs of alumni in crisis and increased participation in our alumni services by 20%, and
- Invested in top talent to drive the organization forward, including a Director of Strategic Partnerships.
We want to particularly thank our early campaign supporters:
- $50K+ level: The Share Fund and Mary Pat & Darren Alcus
- 100K+ level: Jane & Esko Korhonen, Denise Sobel, Carrie & David Marriott, and The Kimsey Foundation.
Our Strategic Vision for 2027
Our campaign goal is $4.2M by 2027 with $3.05M to go. With your support we will be able to continue our ongoing capacity building services as well as…

Evidence of Impact: As of 2023, because of current success of the campaign, Fair Chance was able to add a Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships to expand our relationships with government and philanthropy.
Evidence of Impact: In 2023, we provided new strategic one-on-one consulting to 85 nonprofits facing critical business situations or issues of sustainability.
Impact Story
The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education (FAME) gives every young musician the best opportunity to succeed in life by providing music training and academic support.
Through the Ready for Work Nonprofit Capacity Building Program, FAME gained a clear mission, streamlined and defined programs, and became a more data driven organization. These achievements led to not only increased funding and staff but also laid the foundation for navigating the unforeseen challenges of the pandemic.
FAME, a Prince George’s County nonprofit led by a woman of color, exemplifies Fair Chance’s commitment to centering racial equity and supporting nonprofit resilience to ensure these are strong resources in their communities for years to come.
